Airline Miles Credit Cards

American Airlines - AAdvantage Citi Visa & American Express Credit Cards
(a great card for travel to Mexico and the Caribbean)

  • 25,000 (or 50,000) miles per card.  I used these application links Citi Visa and Citi AMEX and received 50,000 miles per card even though it doesn't mention the 50,000 miles on the application page. (Since this was a few months ago you might not get the 50,000 per card, but you can call and ask for the standard 25,000 promotion, but why not try for the 50,000?)
  • Must charge $3,000 per card in 4 months to get the miles.
  • No annual fee for the first year.
Tip: Sign up for both cards within a few minutes of each other and you will probably get approved for both cards.  It worked for me and my parents.   You may need to buy gift cards or Visa/AMEX cash debit cards to make your $6,000.

Note: Before you sign up for the cards, sign up for the American Airlines frequent flyer program called AAdvantage

WTC Review: I've been able to fly to Cancun twice for 25,000 miles per person and to Costa Rica once for 30,000 miles on this card.  It has paid off for me!

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Signature Visa Card from Chase (probably the best card for domestic travel)

  • 25,000 bonus miles after charging $1,000 in 3 months.
  • $69 fee for the first year.
  • Get 3,000 bonus miles on your first anniversary after you pay the annual fee again.
Tip: Every couple of months Chase offers a 50,000 Southwest Rapid Rewards credit card offer so I would probably wait on this one so you can earn the 50,000

Note: Before you sign up for the cards, sign up for the Southwest Airlines frequent flyer program called Rapid Rewards.

WTC Review: I accidentally signed up for the Premier version of this card and paid a $99 annual fee, but I get a 6,000 mile bonus on my one year anniversary.  We have used this card to fly to Las Vegas and we are using miles from this card to fly our family roundtrip to Disneyland for 7,560 miles per person.  We could take my family of four to Disneyland three times with the 100,000 miles we have.

Chase Sapphire 40,000 Bonus Miles Offer

  • Earn 40,000 Ultimate Rewards Points after charging 3,000 miles in the first 3 months.
  • No annual fee for the first year
  • Earn 2 points for every dollar spent on travel and dining
Tips: You can use your 40,000 points for gift cards, merchandise, travel or experiences.  If you don't want the points or you're hard up for cash, they will mail you a check for $400 after you have received the 40,000 points.
You can also transfer your Ulitimate Rewards Points to the following rewards programs:
  • Amtrak
  • British Airways
  • Hyatt hotels
  • Korean Airlines
  • Marriott hotels
  • Priority Club hotels
  • Ritz Carlton hotels
  • Southwest Airlines
  • United

WTC Review: My wife and I both have this card and we have just been sitting on our points.  The best way to use the Ultimate Rewards Points from this card is for travel.  We will probably end up transferring them 1:1 to Southwest Rapid Rewards.
