Condo Presentation Tips

If you've committed to attending a 90-120 minute condo sales presentation, here are some ideas for responding to professional sales people.  I've attended about a dozen sales presentations over the years and I've had exerience with the good, the bad and the ugly.

1 - Start your stopwatch.
90-120 minutes is what you've committed and don't feel like you have to stay a second longer.

2 - Tell them where you have to go in 90-120 minutes.
Your time is valuable and when you have someplace to go or someone to meet it makes it easier to get out on time.

3 - Why are you here?
You will be asked why you came to the presentation.  Have an answer prepared.  It could be as easy as saying "I'm interested in learning about vacationing."

4 - Don’t fall the ‘buying is better than renting’ philosophy.
Buying is usually better than renting, but not for timeshares.

5 - Remember the magic 5 words "I can’t and I won’t."
I actually learned this from a sales person.  They said if I said these 5 magic words then they wouldn't keep selling to me.

6 - Don't ask a lot of questions unless you are genuinely interested.
I've been to sales presentations before where I left not even knowing how much they were selling timeshares for because our conversation never got that far.

7 - Don't feel believe "I can only give you this price today."
Remember most good deals cycle around again.

8 - Be honest, polite and grateful.

9 - If you truly are dissatisfied with the experience it's better to write a letter to the company instead of being vocal at the presentation.
