Costa Rica Trip Report, May 2012
6:22 PMCosta Rica was such an amazing trip! It is certainly a diverse country with beautiful beaches and amazing rain forests. All of our accommodations were very nice and the food was great! We rented a car with GPS and that turned out to be a really good idea!
Day 1: Travel Day, stayed at the Ramada Plaza Herradura near the airport. They had a great breakfast and it was near a mall with a food court and grocery store
Day 2: We rented a car and traveled about 80 miles to Arenal Volcano National Park and checked into the Los Lagos resort. It was amazing place at the base of the Arenal Volcano. They had hot springs and water slides at empty into the swimming pool. We also went to the hanging bridges that day.
Day 3: We decided to be adventerous and went repelling down 4 waterfalls near La Fortuna. It was such a cool experience to be in the wild! They fed us a great meal and then we got in the car and headed 90 miles south to the Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort. This was an amazing resort on a black sand beach and the pool was designed after the canals of Venice and went on forever!
Day 4: We drove to Manuel Antonio Nation Park and hired a guide to take us through the jungle. We saw a couple of sloths, a viper snake, the rare king vulture, tree frogs and my highlight was watching monkeys in the jungle. There was over a dozen of them.
Day 5: We relaxed at the beach at the Marriott and enjoyed soaking in the sun! Then we headed back to San Jose and stayed by the airport for our morning departure.
